This month the judges at Tigerprint were thrilled to set you a brief to Make Your Mark. We wanted to give you an opportunity to be experimental.
We had some great entries which pushed different styles and techniques, all great at addressing the occasion of the brief.
This month our winning entry (see above) has been created by Laura Stothard.
The judges felt Laura's design really stood out. She has combined a mixture of surface textures with inky marks, grids and blocks of colour. The design is geometric with an industrial feel, make it edgy and full of interest. Laura has built her layers up with grids and frames that draw your eye into the design and isolate her marks.
Congratulations, Laura and we look forward to working with your design.
Hollie's design felt really fresh and full of activity. The use of the large spots start to build a pattern swatch but they also showcase her individual marks. Hollie has show lots of techniques that work well together. The design can work as a whole piece or worked on individually, giving the design lots of life.
The judges liked the organic nature of Shiori's design. The marks within the pattern make a natural spot pattern. The way the marks are layered up in the design create a sense of movement and fluidity through the design.
The judges liked Clea's abstract, geometric design. The colours are really bold and they work well with the black. Clea has shown a mixture of marks using different techniques and she's put them into context using of the block shapes.
Congratulations to Laura. Hollie, Shiori and Clea and a very big thank you to everyone who entered the competition.
The next competition will be open from Tuesday 19th May! Keep an eye on the blog for updates.
Have a great day!
