This month Tigerprint were thrilled to set you a brief to design Christmas Typography. It was exciting to see how you worked with a restrictive brief (using our photographs).
We had some great entries which pushed different styles and techniques, all great at addressing the occasion of the brief.
This month our winning entry (see above) has been created by Pauline Grayson. The judges were all drawn to the skill involved in Pauline's image. The editorial is beautiful and would work well in a send to a loved one at Christmas. The layout of the words works really well with the image and she has created a lot of movement with her font and flourishes. The simple icons tie in the tree and stand off the page. Overall a very considered and skilled design.
Congratulations, Pauline and we look forward to working with your design.
In addition, our judges selected 4 runners up.
The judges loved the originality of the Daniella's design. She has created a flowing font that mimics light painting, making the words light up on the page. The font and icons work really well with the image and Daniella has created a sense of movement throughout the forest.
Eslpeth has really considered her design and has create a clever bauble shape with the layout of her font. The editorial has a beautiful sentiment and would work across many different areas. The addition of simple icons brings the design together and finishes it off nicely.
Ohn Mar's design is a mixture of great placement, a striking font and emphasis on the right words. When we work with type it's really important to make the key words stand out - in this case comfort and joy is the message. Overall the design is really strong and a great contender.
The judges like the hand drawn fonts within Ilana's design. She's applied some interesting textures to the words and applied delicate icons that sit well with the image and overall design. We really liked the fun editorial too.
Congratulations to Pauline, Daniella, Elspeth, Ohn Mar and Ilana and a very big thank you to everyone who entered the competition.
The next competition will be open for submissions on Tuesday 14th October.
Have a great day!
