This month Tigerprint were thrilled to set you a brief to design Christmas Pattern for wrap. It's been exciting to see how you've worked with repeat surface pattern and a seasonal theme.
We had some great entries which pushed different styles and techniques, all great at addressing the occasion of the brief.
This month our winning entry (see above) has been created by Annie Larkins.
The judges loved Annie's Christmas pattern. The design itself has been really considered and Annie has created a Christmas community with her line work, it's a great move on for our winter village scene. The design is very commercial and works really well as a repeat, we can imagine wrapping our Christmas gifts with the print.
Congratulations Annie and we look forward to working with your design.
In addition, our judges selected 4 runners up.
The judges liked Antoana's contemporary Christmas pattern. The design is very commercial and works really well as a repeat. We liked the details that Antoana has created in her different icons and the flow of the composition draws your eyes to different sections. A great graphic pattern.
The judges felt that Christina's design was very commercial. We all like the texture she has introduced and the variation in her line work and block icons. The limited colour palette works really well with the design and shows off the icons she's used. Overall a great repeat.
The judges liked Lucy's subject matter. People aren't often depicted in patterns and the ice-skaters look really fresh and original. The colour palette is great, it looks like winter without being cold. We all had a christmas feeling when we saw the design and it made us all want to ice skate. Lucy illustrative style is beautiful too.
The judges loved the nostalgic style of Pippa's design. Pippa has a beautiful illustrative style and her characters come to life in their different poses. The composition of the pattern creates movement and a great conversational piece.
Congratulations to Annie, Antoana, Christina, Lucy and Pippa and a very big thank you to everyone who entered the competition.
The next competition, Say It With Words, is now open.
Have a great day!
